Baseline

PRIVACY POLICY

The short version

Baseline stores what you log so it can coach you. Your meal photos and your messages to the coach are sent to OpenAI to produce estimates and replies. Nothing is sold, nothing is used for advertising, and you can export or delete everything from inside the app at any time.

What we hold

  • Account — your email address, and a display name if you give one.
  • Health and fitness — weight, body composition, calorie and protein targets, water, steps, workouts, and sleep. Some of this you type; some can come from Apple Health or Health Connect if you connect them.
  • Photos — meal photos, and photos of a fridge, pantry, cookware, shopping cart or gym if you use those features. Stored in a private bucket that only your account can read.
  • Conversations — what you say to the coach and what it says back, so a thread still makes sense tomorrow.
  • Usage — aggregate page views. Not linked to your account.

AI processing

Meal analysis and the coach are built on OpenAImodels. When you photograph a meal or send the coach a message, that photo or text — along with the relevant parts of your targets and recent logs, so the answer is about you — is sent to OpenAI's API to generate the estimate or reply.

OpenAI processes it on Baseline's behalf and, under their API terms, does not use it to train their models. Baseline does not train any model on your data either. If you would rather nothing left the device, the AI features are the ones to avoid — manual logging works without them.

Apple Health and Health Connect

Read-only, and only what you allow. Baseline never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect. Health data read from them is stored with the rest of your account so the coach can use it, and it is never used for advertising or shared for anyone else's marketing.

Who else is involved

  • Supabase — database, authentication and photo storage.
  • OpenAI — meal estimates and coach replies, as above.
  • Vercel — hosting, and aggregate analytics.
  • Resend — the transactional emails you ask for, like a password reset.

That is the whole list. There are no advertising networks, no data brokers, and no third-party trackers.

Your data, your call

Export— Profile → Export my data gives you a single JSON file of everything, including your photos' locations.

Delete — Profile → Delete account removes the account itself along with every meal, photo, scan, recipe and conversation. It is immediate, it cascades, and there is no recovery and no grace period.

Not medical care

Baseline is a consumer wellness product for adults 18 and over. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent anything. Calorie and macro figures from a photo are estimates, and the app says so wherever it shows one. If something about your health worries you, talk to a clinician.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that affects what happens to your data, the app will say so rather than quietly updating the date. Questions: hello@baseline.day.
